Named “Elephant Island” for its shape, Koh Chang is a big, wild, green island in Thailand’s east — the country’s second-largest, yet far less developed than Phuket or Samui. Most of it is protected national park, so you get jungle-clad mountains tumbling down to quiet beaches.

Highlights

  • White Sand & Lonely Beaches — relaxed sands on the west coast with golden sunsets.
  • Klong Plu Waterfall — an easy jungle walk to a swimmable pool.
  • Snorkelling & diving — day trips to the clear waters around the southern islands.
  • Fishing villages — Bang Bao’s stilted houses and seafood are a highlight.
  • Jungle treks & kayaking through the national park’s mangroves.

Koh Chang pairs naturally with Chanthaburi and the Eastern mainland for a longer road trip away from the crowds.
